Question

Backup Exec CPS Error - Pair canceled due to an error

Asked by: timkrampe1

I just installed Backup Exec 10d with CPS and am trying to use it to backup around 900GB of files.  It currently appears that it has about 300GB of the files backed up.

Both servers are running windows server 2003 on a box with dual 2.6GHZ Xeon processors with 2GB of ram.

The backup errors out at random times with the following error:

The pair on source computer 'COMPUTER-MAIN', destination computer 'COMPUTER-BU' for job 'Computer Backup' canceled due to an error. : Policy '?' has encountered an unrecoverable error writing to a dynamic journal file.

by: timkrampe1Posted on 2006-05-10 at 15:15:34ID: 16653547

one of these 2 things fixed it.

1. set windows processor scheduling and memory usage from "background services" to "Programs"
2. did a complete reload of the software on both of the servers.

I am still getting errors saying the pair errored out, but now it will restart the job automatically without having to restart the machine.

thanks for your help.  i think a lot of it had to do with resources available.
