When trying to upload a video on youtube.com, or a photo on the NZ auction site trademe.co.nz, I get a “page cannot be displayed” error page. Data is uploaded, but at the end of the upload I get this error. If I try uploading on the same websites on Mozilla Firefox, I don’t have any problems at all completing the uploads. I have used fully updated versions of SpyBot Search and Destroy and Lavasoft Adaware to scan the computer. I also recently scanned my hard drive for viruses using Avast antivirus. I don’t have any suspicious BHOs when checking on Hijackthis, and have tried repair methods for Internet Explorer from this site: http://www.theeldergeek.co

Nope, I don't have any HP devices attached to my computer (and don't have an HP computer either). I just checked the Windows Update site, and can see a few updates that I should download. Are there any in this list I should leave out? (BTW, I still have SP1 as SP2 caused too many problems on my PC when I tried it out a few months ago.)

Uploading to Image Shack isn't a problem, it only seems to be some websites.
The updates are all security updates, not functional updates, so would affect the upload of files. April updates have been particularly troublesome, causing various application problems. You may want to wait for the fixes.
For the websites that have problem uploading, is the problem consistent? Just wondering if your connection to internet is slow or if website is slow in receiving. Upload broadband speed is much slower than download speed.
Yes, the problem is consistent. I'm on a wireless broadband connection, and have the ability to upload at 1mbps. For example, I have an auction listing on TradeMe which I have been using to test out this problem. I have tried over a dozen times by deleting the photo I have on it, and then re-uploading it. It works every time on Firefox, but will not work on IE 6.

1. Disable third party extensions. With IE open, go to Tools > Options > Advanced. Uncheck "Third party extensions". Click Ok. Reboot computer.
2. Reset IE settings. Go to Tools > Internet Options > Programs. Click on "Reset Web Settings" button. Go to Advanced tab and click "Restore Defaults" button. Go to Security tab and move the bar to Medium or Default. Click OK. Close all browsers. Reboot the computer.
3. Check if a program running in the background is interfering with Internet Explorer. Temporarily disable all Norton programs, including anti-virus, anti-spyware, ad-blocker, win doctor, and recycle bin protect. Disable any firewall or ad-blocker.
4. Repair or reinstall Internet Explorer and Outlook Express in Windows XP

Good news! You need to find out which particular BHO or IE plugin is causing the problem. Reselect Third Party Extensions in IE Options. Reboot the computer. If you are using Widows XP SP2, in Internet Explorer go to Tools > Addin Manager, and disable one addin at a time until you find the addin causing the problem.
If you are using XP SP1, use ToolBarCop to find the problem Addin.
