2003 was the last version I used, and actually, as of now, am still using. I just bought version 10 off the shelf. It must be the newest.

Ghost 10, how to find the dos exe file?
Hi, I have allot of systems that I clone, and kick out, and have allways used ghost, so i figure I would stick with it. I have allways used the ghost.exe, or ghostpe.exe from a floppy, bootable cd, or bootable usb thumb drive. I figured I would go get the latest version of ghost, and get the new exe for my collection. Problem is, I can't find it. I was able to create a bootable cd where I could get to the dos program, but I don't want to use their 400 meg granny slow boot process go get to my beloved light program.
Question: where is the new version of the ghost.exe program on this program?

Unfortunately--Ghost 10 is no longer a DOS based program--it requires Windows and .Net in order to function. It does *hot* imaging while booted to the WinXP OS.
If you need to restore the OS partition, you then have to boot to the Ghost 10 Recovery Environment (RE) from the installation CD--that loads a version of WinPE (WinXP lite) that Ghost 10 again requires to function.
And, although you can restore partitions from images and also do a *bare metal* clone of an existing HDD when in the RE--you can not create an image while in the RE.
So, there is no DOS *ghost.exe* that's included with Ghost 10.
But, there is a 32-bit Ghost 8.2 program included that works with the old Ghost image file formats of *.gho* and *.ghs*. Once booted to the Ghost 10 RE, it is found under *Main Screen/Recover/Recover using legacy Ghost image* (its file name on the Recovery Disk is *RESTOREGHOST.EXE*). This Ghost version is the 32-bit version--which means it can only run under a booted/functioning Windows OS, which includes the WinPE (preinstallation environment) that is booted for the Ghost 10 RE. It can both restore and create images in the old Ghost image file formats. But it is partially *crippled* in that it can not write an image to optical media--only hard drives--internal or external.

Again, unfortunately, I believe scrathcyboy is referring to the DOS based Ghost 2003, 2002, or 2001, or Corporate Ghost 6, 7 or 8 that create DOS boot floppies using a Ghost Boot Wizard--sorry--no boot floppies for Ghost 10 that I'm aware of.
I think scrathcyboy may be correct if you have installed Ghost 2003 or Ghost 7.5 or 8 and you are running the Windows Ghost GUI--when you select to make optical media bootable when creating an image to optical media, Ghost pulls the boot sector image from somewhere that is not actually visible as a file listed in the Ghost sub-directories--probably in one of the *.dat* files--whether *ghost.exe* is embedded in that boot sector image file or not I can't say--because the *ghost.exe* file is simply in the Ghost sub-directory after you install one of the versions mentioned at the beginning of the post.
But, Ghost 10--no *ghost.exe*, and no Ghost Boot Wizard to create bootable floppies--can save Ghost image files to optical media--but they are not bootable--have to use the Ghost 10 Recovery Disk to load the Ghost 10 Recovery Environment before you can access the backup images on optical media.

what version of ghost are u using ?
u could find it:
C:\Program\Symantec\Norton
they may have been restricting ghost.exe usage from cd or floopy boot :/
