you can't remove the password without finding out the password
which means you have to crack it...
ask the owner of the file for the password.

Yep. Crack it first, then remove it.
http://www.experts-exchange.com/Applications/Q_21903179.html     Applications: rar password recovery
Don't hold your breath though if the password is more than 5 or 6 digits long, unless it's a zip file misnamed as rar. Zip passwords aren't as secure.

OR:
Where did you get the file from? If it's from a website, some downloads have separate instructions for what the password is.
If it's from a friend, then ask your friend.
Etc. -- go back to the source of the file.

If it's from p2p networks, then search for a similarly named file, tiny in size, cause someone may have posted the password separately. Or try all or part of the filename as the password. Or see if you can read the info portion in the rar file -- pass may be there.

If the person was smart entering the password, you can run the cracker for 15 days and still not crack it on a fast system.  I tried this on a file I wanted, and it was a TOTAL LOSER.  YOu can better spend your time finding a similar file that is NOT password protected.

1.  You cannot remove the password unless you can get into the file.
2.  If you dont know the password, you cannot get into the file - period.
3.  Therefore, unless you try to crack it, you will never get into it and remove the password.

As I said, spend your time looking for a similar file without password protection, that is a better use of time.

What is the date listed for that txt file?
That site may no longer exist. The person who put the rar file together did a poor job for those wanting to open the file in the future.

But what I think it WAS is they want you to register so they can send you junk mail to make them some money. But now that promotion is over...

Funny. I just came across a 1 GB file. Tried opening a file in it. It asked for password!

Hmm. Ok I looked at the file name -- it was a long name like this "... [www.torrent.to].rar"
I tried the part in brackets as the password. And it worked!

So your pass may be some part of the file name.
Or open in winrar & click the "Info" button & see if pass is there. Or see if one of the file names in the rar file has or is the password. And see if any file in the archive is listed WITHOUT the * at the end which would mean its not encrypted.

If all else fails, try to locate a different version of whatever program or thing you downloaded...

There's not much more to say.
See http://www.experts-exchange.com/help.jsp#hs5  about closing the Question.
I think a B or C grade here is appropriate. It will keep this topic for good reference instead of having it deleted. Thanks.

Nice one, I thought it doesn't exist anymore..
This is an old known way of spammers/advertisers/email resellers -
THERE ARE NO PASSWORDS for such files, moreover the file itself is a
fake containing rubbish. All the file authors want is to get a valid email address
from you so they can send you spam/sell it to spammers/sell it to adult sites lists/the list goes on. After you complete the steps described you won't get any password, only loads of spam and abusive pictures. Actually, you may forget about this email address cause it will be inundated with spam.
