Don't hold your breath though if the password is more than 5 or 6 digits long, unless it's a zip file misnamed as rar. Zip passwords aren't as secure.
OR:
Where did you get the file from? If it's from a website, some downloads have separate instructions for what the password is.
If it's from a friend, then ask your friend.
Etc. -- go back to the source of the file.
If it's from p2p networks, then search for a similarly named file, tiny in size, cause someone may have posted the password separately. Or try all or part of the filename as the password. Or see if you can read the info portion in the rar file -- pass may be there.

you can't remove the password without finding out the password
which means you have to crack it...
ask the owner of the file for the password.
