RiceyRice,
Damn that is ridiculous! OK, I will try downgrading him to version 5 and pray for a miracle.
Let you know how I make out today. Thanks!

Browse All TopicsHey everyone,
I am attempting to use Adobe Acrobat Writer 7 under Windows XP SP2 to generate a PDF from a Microsoft Word test document. The conversion process begins but then bombs out with this error:
"The Acrobat PDFMaker Server could not be loaded. Do you want to run the installer in repair mode?"
I have tried:
- Completely uninstalling MS Office 2000 and Adobe Writer 7, including removing all registry entries, then reinstalling everything and then rebooting.
- Letting the repair mode "fix" the problem, rebooting, then retrying.
- Finding and deleting the PDFMaker files which link into Office.
- Scanning the Adobe forums for any potential fixes.

I have heard some of the PDF wizards complain that the older standards don't have quite all the nitpicky, newfangled features, but for your basic document conversion needs, it'll do the trick.
Lets just hope Adobe and MS get it in gear and have al lthis straightened out by Office 12 and Acrobat 8!!!

Just to let you know I have wrestled with this one continuously, forked the $$$ to sit on the phone with Adobe and MS (who both acknowledge an issue, but want the other to fix it) and the solution has never emerged. Scoured all Adobe and MS KBs, installed from scratch and never found a sure-fire trick to it. Some times it has worked, sometimes not.
I ended up tracking down Acrobat 6 which has never so much as hiccuped at me. Not the most favorable solution, and probably not the answer you are looking for, but it got me back up and running with the least amount of headache. Best of luck.
