Thanks Adam for the reply but here's the confusion... I understand your explanation as it's pretty much the same all over the web. I'm being asked to enable the etp.dat because the user is no longer able to recieve mail on her blackberry. She claims that when McAfee was installed it stopped working, meaning that she stopped getting her mail on her handheld....I don't buy that.
So what are they asking when they say enable the etp.dat?

The ETP.dat in this case is more likely the attachment sent on the first e-mail to the Blackberry handheld. If it is being blocked in whatever service/server is being used to relay your messages to your Blackberry, then your Blackberry will not be activated. You will need to find out who is in charge of that particular redirector in your organization and make sure you can get it to come through.
