Question

Quickbooks Pro Envelope Printing

Asked by: jimbecher

I give up. You would think the need would be great and the software easy to find but it isn't. When you print invoices in Quickbooks Pro you can, as a preliminary step, print mailing labels for the invoices. The kicker is that you can only print labels. I want to print envelopes.

I have a Okidata ML320T sitting around doing nothing but printing labels from Quickbooks Pro. What a waste. I have a real nice HP OfficeJet but it will not print labels. Has anyone come across a software package or a way to print "labels" directly to #10 envelopes? Thanks!

Nope. Intuit really messed up. I really think there should be something out there like Acrobat Reader that will add a printer and then I could just print the lables to that "printer" which in turn could start a envelope printing program to actually print the envelopes. But ....

In quick books you are able to export your clients to .csv you can then import that into MS WORD and run your labels and envelopes that way. I know it's an extra step but that works. I do greeting cards and thank you cards for accountants, Income tax preparers and all I ask them for is a .csv file of there contacts. Then I just have them printed through word.

Funny that I noticed your question because I discovered the answer to it accidentally last night (and yes it is something I have been trying to figure out myself).

This may depend on what version of QuickBooks Pro you have. I am using 2006 version so hopefully yours will be similar.

I assume you print invoices from the Create Invoice screen. On this screen in the tool bar is a Print button wth a down arrow to the right. Click on that down arrow and select Print Envelope... make any needed changes and then click on OK.

That is all you need to do.

If you do not have this ability and are using a much older version of QuickBooks you might consider moving to a newer version.

Hope this helps.
