You also might try the Groupd functionality in excel.
Data>>Group and Outline>>Group
To use this you have to select the second row (the second with the X) and then choose form the menu: Data>>Group and Outline>>Group
Now th second row is grouped and can be made visible by cicking on the "+"

I am not sure which version of excel you are using - for 2003:
highlight the cells to modify
make sure the cells are sorted to ensure that like values are next to each other
select Data from the menu
then select filter - advanced filter
I usually select filter in place and check the Unique records only checkbox
then click OK
