The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Application errors for new user on shared pc Windows XP

Asked by SysAdmin06 in Miscellaneous Software

Tags: ,

I just recently set up a new user account on a Windows XP Pro pc that is already in use. Everything I needed was already installed, and I went through the steps as I've done countless times before to set up the account. For the most part, things worked as expected. Most of the apps, connecting to our domain, and mapping drives and such. There were several problems I haven't been able to remedy however. When Outlook 2003 opens, I'm given an error message claiming "Error: file pa561401.cab not found". It's also looking for a file called "Borders\". I'm prompted to insert the cd with office, so I do and it still can't find it. I've even browsed to the file directly and it claims it can't find it. Outlook works perfectly on the other user. Also, we've got a file on our network in Access, that can be opened while logged in as the older user, but the new user can't open the file, again prompting me to insert the cd, with the same results. The odd thing is, I don't even see Access installed for either user. This is over my head, and I don't know what to do other than a clean install, and I'd rather not have to deal with that. Any help would be appreciated.Start Free Trial
