Hi shuboarder,
Thanks for the fast reply. :o)
I tried to get onto their forums earlier, but was getting 403 errors, seems they are back up now. Anyway, I wasn't aware of the development versions, but after reading up on them, don't feel it would be a good idea to download them as there are many known bugs with them...
I will give DivXRepair and DivFix a go, but does it matter at all if my files are encoded with XVid rather than DivX?
Cheers! :o)

Have you got the most recent version of VLC Media Player?
http://www.videolan.org/vl
The only reason I ask is that this question has been asked before, and I know the developers were considering implementation of a save as feature in future releases of the player that would overcome this problem:

http://forum.videohelp.com
If you have the most recent version, and there is no such option, then I guess the answer to your question is: "There is no solution to this still"
You can try using the free divx repair tool available from here:
http://www.videohelp.com/t
alternatively try DivFix:

Virtualdub may also be able to help here:

Good luck!
