Hi,
I have an issue trying to access Peachtree Complete Accounting 2007 over a LAN - here's some background.
Originally we had two PC's, both running Windows XP SP2 Home Edition, with File & Printer Sharing enabled. PC 'A' had Peachtree installed, and the company files were located in a folder which was shared as 'Peachtree'. PC 'B' had Peachtree installed, and had a persistent drive mapping (drive 'S:') to '\\A\Peachtree'. Everything worked perfectly.
Then PC 'A' was replaced, and the only OS available at the time was Vista (Premium Edition, if that makes any difference). After some tinkering, we can ping 'A' from 'B' (and vice versa), and I can make the persistent drive mapping, and view the contents of the same 'Peachtree' share, either through the mapped drive, or using the full UNC path.
However, when I try to launch Peachtree on PC 'B', I see an error message saying...
"Your Peachtree gateway server is unavailable. Please make sure the gateway computer is logged in or that the database service is running"
I have tried obvious fixes, such as disabling and even uninstalling firewall solutions on both PC's (Norton Internet Security Suite 2006/2007), and have also uninstalled and re-installed Peachtree on PC 'B'. I have seen a very similar issue to this in the following thread...
http://www.experts-exchange.com/Software/Misc/Q_22045779.htmland although I have not tried the accepted solution yet (both PC's are in a different city from me, and I'm not there often), I am a little wary that adding an entry to the hosts file would fix my particular problem, as both PC's are on the same segment, no VPN, and I am able to ping, and explore files, on the shared folder from PC 'B'.
Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
David.
