Question

unable to remote using Dameware mini remote control

Asked by: jskfan

we use Dameware mini remote controle to remote to end user's PCs (XP machines).
there are few machines that when I try to remote to them using the option "Use MRC's mirror driver if available" I get the error : "Access Denied [filter] please contact the administrator of the remote computer for information"
I went to the remote PC and saw the event log 109 that also says the same thing in the description:
"Access Denied [filter] please contact the administrator of the remote computer for information"

I am using a domain admin account and able to ping the remote PCs by IP and by name and am able to remote if I select the option "Use remote deskto (RDP)".

Any help?

Thanks

Via RDP?

On another note I've been doing a bit more testing - Are your clients XP Sp2? Have you configured the firewalls on these clients to allow port 6129?

sorry about the delay --

Did you check you can connect on port 6129?
Have you configured the firewalls on these clients to allow port 6129?

Tried disabling the firewall and seeing if it connects?
Can you use compmgmt.msc to connect to the client machines > Action > Connect to remote computer

by: jskfanPosted on 2008-04-07 at 06:12:35ID: 21296487

Port 6129 is set up as the default.
Regarding the firewall, it's diabled in all workstations.
