Play DVD's on Inspiron 6000
I reformated my wifes Dell Inspiron 6000. Everything works great except I can't play DVD's on it. I know I need a program to do this but I can't find the install CD. Any options. If I contacted Dell would they help me even though it is out of warrenty?
Thanks.
Thanks.
download VLC player and try to open the DVD in VLC player
Sorry to hear you did that you may have lost all the special tools /software that came bundled with it. VLC will give you back DVD playback but
since it came with Power DVD

Just to add,
when you download drivers programs software they are installers,
save them to a special folder name it download installers, burn them to dvd as data discs and you will always have them for the future.

You can also go to free-codecs.com and download the k-lite codec pack. It includes a bunch of codecs so that you can play most types of video you find on the web. It also includes Media Player Classic which is an excellent light weight (and fast) media player

I have a Cyberlink PowerDVD 7.0 disk that came with my XPS m1530. Can I use that on my 6000 even though it is loaded on my XPS?
If I load it on the 6000 is there anything else I need to do?
Thanks.

That would do it - I think Dell would be stretching a point if they said that you had to have separate installation media for each machine.
