The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. Transferring software from one PC to another

Hi everybody

I'm hoping you can help me out with this issue. A friend's laptop is in desperate need of an overhaul. It's slow and has several annoying pop ups and spyware which just wont go away. I've bought more memory to help speed it up, but I also want to reinstall Windows XP back to factory settings to get rid of the annoyances. However, the major problem is that she has some software that was loaded onto it for her, but she doesn't have the installation discs.

Is there anyway i can save the programs to a CD or an external hard drive and then reinstall them after I've installed Windows? I appreciate that software installs itself into the registry and other places, so I don't imagine that a simple case of copying the program files across will work. But if there is any other way that the software can be saved, I'd be forever grateful.
