Honeywell has non-existent support for their product unfortunately.
What I did find out is that Win-Pak SE the version I have installs MSDE 2000 as a default instance. So I uninstalled all SQL versions and then reinstalled MSDE 2000 as default everything. It resolved all the services issues but now when I go to attach the databases I have issues becuase they've been upgraded to 2005.
I've found some tutorials on downgrading your database back to 2000 from 2005 but none are working for me. One has a second step of exporting the data after you've exported the structure. It says right click on the database and choose Tasks-Export. I don't have Export as an option. I'm using Studio Express 2005, is that why?
I have a backup of the databases but they were made using the vmware eval license in our backup exec 12.5 and now it won't let me restore them. So my last ditch effort if i can't downgrade these back to 2000 is to purchase the vmware licenses for backup exec (couple thousand bucks!!) and restore the databases.
Do you have any links to tutorials on downgrading your database back to 2000 MSDE from 2005 Express?

As per WIN-PAK SE description in their product site below any one of SQL Server 2005 edition needs to be present in that machine. And If you haven't spent any additional cost, then it is the free version of SQL Server 2005 ie., SQL Server 2005 Express edition.

You can download SQL Server 2005 Express edition from the link below,
http://www.microsoft.com/d
http://www.microsoft.com/d
First link is SQL Server 2005 Express edition and the second link is SP3 for the former and you will be able to successfully restore the backup which you have to this machine.
Not aware about the product documentation and maintenance and hence not able to help much wrt WIN-PAK.
But still can help you more on SQL Server aspect.
Since you would have original license and product support why can't you contact product vendor on this aspect
