The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not?   • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. Windows Media Player 10 will not play .wvx file

Hello,
I have Windows XP home version with service pack one only installed.  I have Internet Explorer version 6.  I have Windows Media Player 10 installed and have a dsl connection.
My Windows Media Player plays video content fine at every site I've tried EXCEPT my favorite website: www.oprah.com.
Last week I could watch video content just fine at Oprah.com but yesterday and today suddenly no video plays there for me.  I tried watching news at msnbc.com and it worked fine.  I have made no changes that I know of  (intentionally) except doing a disk clean up, deleting old emails from Outlook Express, and defragging yesterday (but the videos at Oprah.com would not play before I defragged either).
I asked my friends to try Oprah.com & the videos worked fine for them in Windows Media Player.

I tried doing self-troubleshooting and all my mediastream settings are okay.  I really don't know what the problem is here.  I have been downloading a lot of music lately and I have quite a huge library of music so I don't know if this could cause my media player not to play the .wvx files at Oprah.com or not.  But I don't have any video files stored in my library.  The error message simply says windows media player cannot open this file when I try to open the url above in the player.  And when I click the "Play" button while at Oprah's website, it says "connecting to media" but then nothing happens and it says "stopped."  I do see a picture and a media player there, but nothing plays, there's no video, just the still shot picture advertising the video segment.
Hope I have given enough info to get some help with this.
Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.
