The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. Unresolve post: lost audio of web video streaming (video playback is OK)

RE; posted problem titled
"lost audio of web video streaming (video playback is OK)" on 1-18-2007
It is now day 3 of this 'saga'.
I was hoping that someone on the expert list would get some great ideas on the possible cure to this...

The latest observed behavior of this (annoying) problem:
When going to,say, a news site and opening their video nes clips, typically the 1st clip is a commercial. It's sound MAY play out properly, but not always. The news clip just about EVERY time (but seldom it actually does play correctly) would play without sound...
Going into my temporary Internet Folder and reviewing the latest captured info, i can see a file that would have a description "Windows Media Audio/Video Playlist". Invoking it (re: double click) yields a warning message (indicating that it is not good to execute files from this folder...). ignoring the warning, the action will start up WMP (v11) and will playe the playlist (typically the commercial and then the news clip) VERY nicely, video and audio. It is noitced that this occurs via the application (WMP) actually going to the web and invoking a fresh download of the sequence...
This tells me that:
1. The files play corrctly when the application is invoked NOT from the browser (IE7).
2. That I ahve all the needed codecs to actually play these files...

As I have indicated before, I have gone through the process of reomovng the Browser (actually rolling it back to IE6) and eventually re-installing it...

I am still very much in the dark adn hope that someone will have some rela eurika moment on this!!
