How to rip one chapter of my wedding dvd to share on the web?
Hi folks,
I want to take a portion of video off a dvd and put it into a format that I can share on the web. I'm a complete noob to this, starting from scratch. The DVD is my wedding video, nothing hollywood. I only really want to get one chapter off of it, I don't want to rip the entire thing.
Can anyone point me in a good direction to get started?

option a) If you are ripping a movie
Except for very rare occurrences, the longest chain will be the main movie (what you will usually want). The other PGC chains will be trailers, extra features, interviews, etc. If you are interested in ripping any of these you will either have to view the dvd and take note of the length of the segment you want to rip, then find the PGC that matches the length of that segment among the other PGC chains and select it manually, or use a program like IFOEdit (free) to find the right one. But usually it is quite clear if the dvd is standard, the main movie will be much longer than any of the other segments.
A good way to learn and experiment with ripping and encoding for the first time is to select one of the short extra features to practice.

What tools do you have installed.
do you have a dvd rom to play dvd I guess so, do you have a dvd burner?
Some things to consider is size, dvd vobs are big so you will want several tools, the first to rip the vobs off the dvd.
I know you say you dont want to rip the whole dvd but its easier on the cpu to get it off the dvd,
dvd drcrypter is one
This rips encrypted dvd video files onto your harddrive for further processing. It removes region code protection and macrovision. You can either A) rip all files press F or B) .ISO mode press R

You select which vobs to rip off.

DVD Shrink 3.2 guide
in the settings simply point the output file to C drive TEMP, So that dvd shrink will not automatically burn to disc once the shrink is complete
( you have to make a new folder in C drive directory its important that you place it there) Name it TEMP
you can delete this once you move the vobs out of there.
Remember to do this as it will consume space.
okay next step is to reduce these vobs and have a smaller out put.
