Disable automatic updates in Adobe Acrobat 8

Can anyone tell me how to disable automatic updates in Adobe Acrobat 8 Standard. There is no option under Edit>Preferences and I do not know what the process and/or service is called. Thanks.

Choose Help > Check For Updates.

It will check for updates and when it responds with, "There are no updates available at this time", click Preferences instead of Quit.

Uncheck Automatically Check For Adobe Updates and applications to update.  Click Ok.

Thanks markbyrn. Another I found to stop updates was to go to the installed path, for me it was: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 8.0\Acrobat\plug_ins  and rename Updater.api. Your way is easier though.

I have found this from adobe site. There is one registry entry to disable update permanently.  Copy and paste following registry script to a notepad and save it as '.reg' file. Click on that, your updates will be disabled.
