Play wmv file

Greeting,
I have to files movie (Part-1, Part-2). The two files end with extension "wmv". Along with the files there are three XML files named: Matab-Sena3y-Dvd_files.xml, Matab-Sena3y-Dvd_meta.xml,Matab-Sena3y-Dvd_reviews.xml.
When I try to open any of the wmv files in Media Player OR Real-player, it gave me the following erro:"The file that you are attempting to play has an extension that does not match the file format. Playing the file may result in unexpected behavior.

Could any one help me playing this file?

Try downloading the DivX codec from http://www.divx.com and let me know if that solves your problem.

Where did the files come from? Are they DRM-ed? Perhaps you don't have the proper license. Until I have more information I can only offer conjecture.
