Can I produce silver DVDs quality?

My car's dvd player has the tendency to get stuck (stop playing) with home produced dvd's. It doesn't do this with purchased (silver) dvd's. I have tried different kinds of blank dvd's but I am lucky if I can burn a dvd which doesn't have issues.

My car's player seems to be very sensitive to my dvd's. I was wondering what's the difference between these dvd's and the silver ones?

What's the way to burn dvd's in a quality as close to the silver ones without spending a bundle?
