I run windows XP home SP2, Mediaplayer 11(for XP) and Corel's WinDVD 9 plus.
In order to play back DVD recorded on my Panasonic DMR-ES46V, which are output in MPEG-2 format, I first installed the Intervideo decoder as recomended on Microsft's support site. This did not work so I downloaded a trial version of WinDVD9, which played all the formats, including the MPEG-2 , just fine.
After expiration of the trial I purchased WinDVD9 plus and uninstalled the trial version before installing the new WinDVD9 plus from the disk.
When I wan to play back the Mpeg-2 dvd's, neither program is able to open them. When I use the run d:\command windows states that the file is not recognized or the disk is not formatted. WinDVD9plus simply does not see the DVD in the drive, even with aprompt to get the file from D:
On my second computer I run XP pro SP2, Mediaplayer 10 and the new WinDVD0 plus and it opens the same DVD's without a problem and plays them - even though a bit choppy, which might be a card issue or something like that.
The Mediaplayer 11 displays attached technical information.
MPEG/DVD Filters
Type Name Binary Version
video InterVideo Video Decoder IVIVIDEO.ax 9.0.14.84
audio InterVideo Audio Decoder iviaudio.ax 9.0.14.84
If I try to open the DVD from within Mediaplayer 11 it does not even see the DVD in the drive.
I also purchased a new Philips DVD drive which recognizes all the fromats and has performed well with the trial version of Corel's WinDVD9. I checked for updates to the IVIVIDEO, none available.
Since I think that this is not so much a Corel program problem that a windows problem please hellp with any suggestions. Surfing the iinternet for answers to this particular problem has been not successful.
