Hi,
I would like to create a watermark component in Flex, like those that we can see in commercial products (i.e. transparent letters with grey surroundings).
I have already created a canvas containing a Label object, but I have met 3 problems:
- I cannot make my label letters transparent,
- Which filter effect must I apply to obtain the grey borders,
- How can I set my label object properties (or anything else) to "let the event be received by components that are located below" (my below component have a handler function on the click event but that event is not fired when clicking on the label).
Maybe the label component is not the right one, I am open to any suggestion to create a "commercial like watermark".

Hi Plucka and thanks for the answer.
Following your advice, I created a basic image watermark with transparent background.
However, my problems are still there:
- Which type of image filter can I use to obtain the grey fading borders (assuming my letters are transparent too)?
- How can the components located below the image (which is set to be 100% of my application width & height) to rceceive my mouse events?

You cant alpha a label.
Use an Image to draw your watermark with the border etc, then you can place it and use Alpha.
