It is not clear from any of your questions about this issue whether you want to:

1. Take timed screenshots ie. at preset intervals,
or
2. Take screenshots when you want to take them using eg. a keyboard hotkey combination.

In either case it is obvious that you want a way to have the screenshots saved somewhere automatically with file sequential names so you don't have to do it manually in an image editor, but it isn't clear WHEN you want the screenshots created.

Hi again Ajay_Ajay.

There was a suggestion posted by the member tonig123, but was removed by the moderator.  It was a fairly good suggestion, but he unfortunately posted a link to a version of the software that was "cracked", and so cannot be allowed here.  The suggestion was that some software intended for "spying" is able to take screenshots at whatever intervals you choose in the program configuration, and that it may be possible to use a program like that for your purposes.

Of course, not all programs of this type are intended to spy illegally on other peoples' computers, although many legitimate programs of their type are unfortunately used with bad intent.  There are some utility programs written specifically to allow parents to monitor their childrens' activities to make sure they are not engaging in chat sites with the wrong kinds of people, etc.  The drawback, as mentioned in the comment that tonig123 posted, is that AntiVirus applications usually see this type of program as a threat and intercept them.  Another issue that I would emphasis is that unless a child-monitoring software utility like this is written by a reputable retail company, you can end up installing a freeware program that actually does install malware of its own.

The risk would be entirely up to you whether you wanted to experiment with such a program, perhaps just on a trial basis, to see if it would work for your needs.  Legitimate software titles are:

http://www.key-logger.ws/  (the proper retail link, not to a cracked version)
http://www.parentalsoftware.org/bigbrother.html

Generally you will find that Trial versions limit how much you can configure, and nearly always do not allow the program to operate in "stealth mode", which would be better for your needs if you chose to experiment.

A google search for "child monitoring software screenshots screen capture" will provide a lot of links, but it would then be entirely your judgement which sites and software to avoid.  Bearing in mind that software like this works in similar ways to what some Trojans do, I am not convinced that it is your best option though.

Going back to my previous comment before the moderator's comment, could you please let us know exactly what it is that you need.  Perhaps then we can suggest something appropriate.

Are you aware that the free IrfanView image viewer and editor supports a lot of command line options, and that you can instruct it to take screen shots without actually making the program visible?

http://www.irfanview.com/index.htm

See my comments here:

http:Q_24725820.html#a25316637 (mistake in batch file %MEMP% instead of %TEMP%)
http:Q_24405729.html#a24383976

Something like that could be run from a batch file set to loop and repeat after pausing for a certain number of seconds, and using a *.vbs script would allow you to force focus on a named application window before running the command to have IrfanView take the screenshots.

I think that you have been put off the software that you previously used (EventCorder) because the "Scripting" part of automating it was totally confusing you as somebody who possibly has never had to use VBS or batch files.  Maybe IrfanView (or the ones mentioned in http:Q_24725820.html) may be better for your needs.

Hi Bill
Thx for your reply. now here i tried to explain my problem to you:-
Actually as i mentioned above i have a software in 20 different languages (and new more languages came time to time). There are 100 screenshots in each language and having format png, jpeg, bmp and all screenshots are of same in all langauges i.e there interface look same and only difference is language.
I tried to find and work in different software as you help me to work in  IRFANVIEW etc .But i can't suceed.
My requirement:-I dont want to spend time manually on making and saving or using hot keys or timed screenshots each time with different language.Actually my requirement is not to waste time to make screenshot manually when ever i get new software in new langauges.

Problem phase:-(My personal experience)
Now i found why i cannot make it automatically it is because as i used in eventcorder or winautomation software when i make and save an  recordable event with one language and then i change my software language into another and try to run again then it stop .This is because in all other language the object size(Buttons) is not same. Because of different languages the control sizes vary.

I saw in some softwares when we make and save an event first then next time if we play that saved event then everything works automatically but here because of different languages and control sizes event cannot run.

I hope you understand my problem , if  you have any more question about my problem  then plz let me know.
waiting for ur reply
Thanks and have a nice time

Hi Ajay_Ajay

Yes, I can see what the problems would be using automation to capture the screenshots.  You are looking for a method to walk through all the various screens and dialogs in a particular application grabbing screenshots at each step.

I'm afraid that the best option I could come up with, where language does not matter, is a modified desktop shortcut to IrfanView's executable, but that needs you to press Ctrl + Alt + P whenever you want to capture whetever is showing on screen at the time.  You would not even have to think about where the screenshots were being created, or what file names were being generated, so for each change to the application screen you just press Ctrl + Alt + P and then move on.  100 Ctrl + Alt + P keypresses with each screen change wouldn't take you too long to execute.  You are just adding a quarter of a second onto however long it took you to change the application screen into whatever you wanted to capture.

So, I'm sorry but here's the only method I know that would get your screenshots with suitable file names and in standard *.jpg format, but it is partly manual and partly automated.

Create a Shortcut on the Desktop with the following command in the "target" field:

"C:\Progra~1\IrfanView\i_view32.exe" /capture=2 /convert=c:\TEST\capture_$U(%d%m%Y_%H%M%S).jpg /silent /dpi=(300,300) /bpp=24

The "Start In" field can be left blank.

(I am not sure if the /dpi and /bpp switches make any difference in this case, but I've included them).

The /capture switch can be set to any of the following parameters:
0 = Capture the whole screen (all monitors)
1 = Capture the whole screen (current monitor)
2 = Capture the foreground (active) window
3 = Capture the foreground (active) window (client area)

The $U(%d%m%Y_%H%M%S) part of the generated file name would create a file named "capture_15102009_194310.jpg" where my date and time at that moment were: 15th October 2009 - 7.43 pm and 10 seconds.

The Properties of the shortcut are to run Minimized, and I have changed the icon for the shortcut as seen in the screenshot.

Note: A "HotKey" can only be applied to a SHORTCUT to a program or file, and will only work if the shortcut is on your desktop or within a folder on your desktop, or if it is in the main part of your Start Menu, ie. not pinned to it.

Sorry I can't help any better than this.
