How to make cross platform screensavers with fullscreen video at a good price.

Hi there, I'd like to be advised on the best and most cost effective way to create cross platform screensavers for distribution over the net. We just want to make fun video screensavers that can be downloaded from our site and have a WINDOWS and MAC version.
I did find this site http://www.screentime.com/purchase/ but at the price ? is it really not possible to find something a bit more cost effective? I am willing to learn tutorials to code them by myself if it is possible but don't know where to start.
