Sound doesn't work

I am having trouble getting sound on my external speakers. I firstly had a Creative soundcard installed and one day I stopped getting any sound from my speaker. I updated the device drivers but still no joy. I have since then replaced my sound card but still I am not getting any sounds on my speakers. I have tried another set of speakers but still no luck. Please help.
