The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. How To Set Sharepoint User Account Permissions For Installation

I am new to setting up and installing MS Sharepoint (WSS 3.0), and I've run into a snag.
I installed Sharepoint on our server with all the default accounts (mostly a combination of NT Authority/Network Service, and one Domain Admin account).  My problem is that none of the timer jobs run and from what I've read this is quite the wrong way to set up Sharepoint.

I've researched into the different user accounts you need for Sharepoint : SQL Server service account, User Account (to setup and run stsadm), and a Server Farm Account (for the CA App Pool and WSS Timer Service)

How is it that you properly set up these user accounts with permissions that make Sharepoint work correctly?  It says to give db_owner permission to one of the groups but that is not a valid permission group to add.  

Is it possible to change the user accounts that are running my Sharepoint / SQL Server / CA without uninstalling and re-installing?  If not, how do I properly prepare for a fresh install of Sharepoint with the correct user accounts / permissions?Start Free Trial
