The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Need help getting exisiting sharepoint architecture fixed

Asked by EMJTech in MOSS-Sharepoint

I have somehow been tagged as the SharePoint guy at work... best part is... I know absolutely nothing about it!  The current sharepoint site has been up for a few years but is not touched by the majority of the company.
Right now the problem is that the main site is not the parent of all of the other sites for easy permissions/settings inheritance.  I want to overhaul the site so that it will be easier to administer and update.

We have a main site at "http://site.company.com/pages/home.aspx".  When I look at that site's content and structure, no other sub-sites or pages are listed.  However, along the tab bar on top there are multiple other sites listed (for our different offices i.e. Dallas--> http://site.company.com/dallas/main/Pages/Default.aspx).  Of course, there are even more sites I've found that are 'under' these other sites but don't show up in their structure either AND none of the permissions are shared between anything so it's a PAIN!

Aside from (attempting) to delete all these old sites (since they weren't really being used yet), can I 'move' them under the main site so that they are a subsite and inherit the permissions and structures?  It looks like whoever set this up didn't really plan it out properly.

Bear with me, I know nothing about Sharepoint besides what I've poked around and found out in there and from a few web searches...Start Free Trial
