The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Best method to delete/recreate a site collection in MOSS

Asked by Tray896 in MOSS-Sharepoint

Hey guys.  My team has recently taken over administration of our corporate sharepoint environment so I'm having to learn on the fly here.  We are currently in the process of working on a project in which we are exporting data from production and importing into our pre-prod environment.  Part of this process is to get a clean site collection/content db in pre-prod so that we know it is a clean environment.  I've had trouble finding any documentation showing the best steps for deleting and recreating a site collection.  I've tried using the 'Delete Site Collection' option from the central administration GUI, but this takes forever and eventually times out.  I've also deleted the site collection via stsadm.exe with some limited success.  Each site collection is assigned it's own content db, so I'm assuming I need to delete both the site collection and the content database in order to truly clean it up.  I don't want to delete the entire web application because there are other site collections within it that are currently being tested.  I just want to delete the sitecollection1 part of this example: test.site.com/sitecollection1

So here are my questions:

What should I delete?  The site collection, the content db, or both?
If both, what order should they be done in?
And finally, what is the best method for performing these operations...stsadm or the GUI?  Please let me know the steps/commands to run.  Thanks!Start Free Trial
