The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

VS2005 deploy reports with Elevated privileges--- access denied--- Report Server has encountered a SharePoint error

Asked by Indian_Chanakya in MOSS-Sharepoint, SQL Server 2005, MS Live Communications Server

I get an error while deploying reports from VS2005 to WSS 3.0.
"Error : Report Server has encountered a SharePoint error. "
"File :   c:\Projects\DataSource.rds "

Then i had a look at the log file of the report server.
It displayed the below error
w3wp!library!5!07/24/2008-09:44:02:: v VERBOSE: Transaction begin.
w3wp!security!5!07/24/2008-09:44:02:: i INFO: Exception while running with elevated privileges
w3wp!security!5!07/24/2008-09:44:02:: i INFO: Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED))
w3wp!library!5!07/24/2008-09:44:02:: e ERROR: Throwing Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.SharePointException: Report Server has encountered a SharePoint error., ;

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On the Sharepoint site:
I do see the report files like datasource and reports deployed despite the error.
But when i run the report i get the error "Report Server has encountered a SharePoint error."

Also when i check the report services using http://myreportserver/reports,  I do not see any report file or folder being created.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have the following setup
There are two servers:
Server1 : SSRS 2005  - the report server is sharepoint integrated
Server 2 : WSS 3.0  Web front end

I DO NOT get any error when configuring Reporting Services Integration:
1) Under Manage Integration Setting, the authentication mode is trusted.
2) Grant Database Access is successful.
Note: While configuring, the server name is specified Report Server name.
Despite this, When i come back to check the grant database access settings; it still displays the WSS server name as the report server.
Is this a correct behaviour

3) Set Server Defaults also gets configured successfully.

Any insights would help me
