The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Errors provisioning Project Web Access site after full farm restore

Asked by stephenneal in MOSS-Sharepoint, Microsoft Project Project Management Software

OK, this is driving me a little nuts!!

We have an installation of WSS 3.0 with PS2007 installed all working fine. I need to move the databases and the actual farm (so the web app stuff etc.) to a new server too. Currently the DB & Sites etc, are on one machine.

I've taken a full farm backup of the environment and am trying to again restore the full farm backup on the new WSS3 3.0 & PS2007 dedicated server.

I've installed both the above and run the config wizard so the basic are working fine. So I go to restore the my backup from the other server and select Farm type restore this runs through fine with the odd warning about some DB's being in restore state at points, but I don't think this is an issue.

All seems to look fine until I start the Project Application Service and it tries to provision the new site. Then it all seems to fall over. I get 4 errors in the event log 7072, 6993, 7009, 6422.

7072:
rovisioning 'PWA': One or more of the databases already contains schema. When editing or creating a Project Server instance, you may specify:
* Four databases that do not exist
* Four existing, blank databases
* Four existing Project Server databases of the same version from the same installation.
Combinations of blank, new, and existing databases are not allowed.

6993:
Provisioning 'PWA': Failed to provision databases. An exception occurred: Provisioning failed because the databases specified did not match..

7009:
Provisioning 'PWA': Failed to update site.

6422:
Provisioning 'PWA': Error provisioning site or databases.

I can access the PWA site without issue and things *look* ok (although I've not tried doing anything). I've been trying to resolve this for days! But no luck. Any advice would be massively appreciated.Start Free Trial
