The Solution Rating System

  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. CISCO sWITCHES CONFIGURATION

Hi All,
I need a very urgent help to configure 5 2960 switches and 1 3560 switch(layer 3).
I want to configure Vlan's into my network, and i want to place 2960's into access-layer and 3560 into distribution layer.
first i want to know the cabling between these switches, how i can connect
2960's have also got 2 spf ports each and 3560 has got 4 spf's and i don't know what for they are used?
on 2960's each has got a total of 24-ports, but the last two ports on each has got spf's above it with the same numbers. i mean port 23 and port 24 has got spf ports above it but they look like on the same port number.
how  and when i can use spf ports...i have no idea
if i plug in the cable into gig 0/23 on 3560--------------gig 0/23 of SW1-2960 ,

and SW1-2960 gig 0/24-------gig 0/24 of SW2-2960
gig 0/23 of SW2-2960 to------------gig 0/23 of SW3-2960 and ............................
do i have a chance of having loops?how to avoid it?

i have domain controllers and SQL database servers, mail servers in the network and also Voice switch that will be used by everyone in the organization.
how can i implement my Vlan's? i have call ceentre software running on SQL server and Finance server running also on SQL server. i have 1 amil server, everyone needs access to mail
i have 2 domain controllers, so again evryone need to access the DC's to authenticate
I have Recruitment and marketing departments.
Recruitment ,Marketing, and Call centre uses the same SQL server
To simplify Everyone needs access to Servers, but i want to put finance in to Vlan10 and Callcentre into Vlan 20 , All the servers into Vlan 30 and the rest into Vlan 40
Can anybody come up the solution and design ideas with the sort fo equipment i have got.
please...please respond asap as i need to configure these urgently as we are moving to new office and we bought these cisco equipment
