I am currently at a colo facility with many T1 circuits coming into my cage. My provider wants to replace all of them a single DS3 crossconnect with each T1 on its own channel. I am actually all for this plan, for ease of turning up new circuits. Instead of me running a new cable back to their network cabinet, they would just assign the T1 to a particular channel, and I am off to the races.
Here is my problem. My T1s drop into different routers depending upon the zone they are in. If I am only going to get a single DS3 crossconnect, I am doing to need to dedicate a box just to do some WAN switching. Again, I am all for this plan. My question is what can I use.
My initial thought was a 7507 or 7513 with a group of PA-CT3-4T1s (yes...I know this is old gear, but I don't have the budget to buy all new stuff) but will the 7500 series do the TDM required to properly wan switch (and will the PA for that matter)? I also thought of trying to pick up a used 12008 or something close, but what blades would I need? Lastly, I was thinking of vintage Cisco IGX WAN Switch gear.
Does anyone have any ideas?
