The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Cisco Easy VPN with a 3G wireless WIC

Asked by DilbertW01 in Network Operations, Network Routers

I have two sites.  At the main site, I have two Cisco 2811 routers.  One is connected to the Internet while the other is connected to the MPLS circuit that connects our other offices to the main office.

At the remote site, there is one Cisco 2811 that is connected to the MPLS circuit.  There is also a 3G GSM WIC card in the router as a backup connection.  When MPLS goes down, the 3G card connects to the Internet and provides emergency connectivity.

It works up to this point.

What I am trying to acomplish that is not working is establishing a Easy VPN tunnel over the 3G card once MPLS is down and the 3G card has connected to the Internet to the 2811 at the main office that is connected to the Internet.  The tunnel never seems to come up.  I need to establish backbone-to-backbone connectivity between the two offices when MPLS goes offline.

Does anybody have any configuration examples or setup instructions on how to acomplish this?  I would prefer to AVOID ANY CISCO documentation.  I have been working off their examples and docs.  They have been inconsistent and don't work.

I am attaching a Visio diagram of the setup that I have.  I want the Test Workstation to print to the Print server over the Easy VPN tunnel with the Print Server returning the print job to the JetDirect card back on the other side over the Easy VPN tunnel.
Thank you!
