The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. help setting up permissions for home folders

Hello guys and as always, thanks for your time and expertise.
I was doing an exercise in a server 2003 book I have and the practice lesson involved creating a home folder for users on a file server.
Basically, the process involved creating a shared home folder for users to save their docs on the file server.  My question involves the permissions.  The book didn't really get into the permissions but I set the shared permissions with domain admins, and administrators with full control.  I then gave authenticated users change permission.  I gave the same permissions for the security/NTFS permissions: domain admins and administrators got full control and authenticated users got modify permissions.
The next setp involved going to the user account and setting the profile path for the home folder.  Here's a sample: \\server1\home\%username% - i guess that variable creates the user folder in the centralized shared folder with the user's logon name as the name for the folder when the user logs onto the network.  Do you guys agree with how I set the permissions or is what I did acceptable.  Thanks as always.Start Free Trial
