The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

WIndows XP stops at "Loading personal setting screen"

Asked by escorrego in Network Management, Windows XP Operating System, Microsoft Operating Systems

Hello,

I am having a problem with the roamin profile of USER A loging into MACHINE A.

I recently installed Nero and then uninstalled it. I reset the computer after the uninstall and tried to log in as usual. However the computer gets to "Loading you personal settings" and won't go any further. (I left it for 4 hours one time and was still on that screen)

I know the computer isn't frozen because I am able to move the mouse.

The strange thing is that USER B, USER C, and LOCAL USER D are all able to login sucessfuly to MACHINE A, so I know it's not the machine.

However I am also able to log USER A into MACHINE B without any problems, so it doesn't seem that it is the profile either.

I have done the following things to troubleshoot however none solved the problem:

1. Removed all Nero FIles and registry entries from the machine
2. Deleted the profile from the local machine as to recieve a fresh copy from the server
3.  Ran SPY BOT and virus scan multiple times on the machine and nothing was found
4. Disabled the McAfee Host Intrusion Prevention firewall and virus scan
5. Did a repair installation of Windows XP
6. FInally I completely reformatted the computer and reinstalled XP (Thinking that it was a virus) However now even then it is still having the same problem.

any help would be greatly appriciated, I am completely stumped
