Greetings, I'm working with a friend on developing a web app using visual studio and for source control we're using VisualSourceSafe (internet) hosted on a server in chicago where we can checkin/out files to work on them. The friend is located overseas and when he attempts, to connect to sourcesafe on his connection he fails to do so. we switched to a tottaly different source control solution offered by dynamsoft (dynamsoft.com) and once we got all sat up, he started getting a "Socket is closed by server" error. I can log on with his information from here just fine, and he can also login if he gets on a connection provided by other ISP's than what he's currently using. We came to the conclusion that there has to be a port that these source control apps run on and it's being blocked or something by the ISP he's with. I'm wondering if there are ways around this, can a proxy help us out? the new source control offers us to input proxy options in the settings (socket4, 5, HTTP). I'm not an expert on this and I would highly appreciate any suggestions or help.
