Lost COM1 and can't sync Palm pilot!!

I have a palm pilot that used com1 and I went to sync it with my cpu one day it said connection could not be established, so now all the data on my palm can not be transfered to my desktop.  I have had the palm pilot for over a year, and have never had a problem syncing it before.  I went in to the device manager and there is no com1 at all,  just LPT1.  I have 2 extra usb ports on the back and two on the front.  None of them work with my palm.  My mouse, keyboard, printer have specific spots and they are fine. Also my ipod connect in the back to one of the 4 usb ports and syncs fine.  What do I need to do?  My palm pilot has all my business info on it that need to be printed for personal records.  I am running windows XP.Start Free Trial
