Question

How do I enable and launch Netmeeting with a directory server?

Asked by: j_rameses

Hello, Someone please help me.
Also, I am running Windows SBS 2003 R2 on server side and Windows XP service pack 2 on client side.

I hope someone can help me out as soon as possible.
I have installed Netmeeting on everyone's computer.
The problem is that it only works if I use the settings:
Directory Settings = domainname.com

I want to be able to use a directory server so the user does not have to enter a username of whom they wish to communicate with all they have to do is select the user that is online.  How do I go about doing this?

I tried using it the other night bad mistake couldnt get it to work, old ways lol,
Netmeeting is fazed out too.
then realized msn now windows live
does it all straight off no messing around.
You can make a call
send and receive voice clips by pressing down the F2 key while talking into the mic,
use a web cam for video calls, much easier than netmeeting,

Maybe not what you asked for but a lot simpler.

Merete, thanx for the info but I prefer NetMeeting.
I do not want to add another expense to the company by purchasing any products.

If anyone else knows how to play with NetMeeting please advise.

Can these help you?
Choose your Directory Server and options:
To automatically log on to a specific server when NetMeeting starts, click the Logon to a Directory Server when NetMeeting starts check box.
Under What Directory Server you would like to use?, type the name of a Directory Server, or select one from the list.

Merete,

You mention
"To automatically log on to a specific server when NetMeeting starts, click the Logon to a Directory Server when NetMeeting starts check box.
Under What Directory Server you would like to use?, type the name of a Directory Server, or select one from the list.
"

I do not get that option it is blank.
When I click on TOOLS----->OPTIONS---->DIRECTORY SETTINGS --->DIRECTORY
I get no options but "MICROSOFT INTERNET DIRECTORY".
If I chose that one I get the following pop up message:
"You are not logged oon to a directory server. Do you want to log on now?" YEs or NO.
I choose "YES" I get the following error message:
---------------------------
NetMeeting
---------------------------
The directory server could not be found.

You may not be connected to the network, or you may have
mistyped the server name.

To change your server, in NetMeeting, click Options in the Tools menu,
and select the General tab.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

Please advise
