The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

freeware remote access software that uses Tcp 80 like Webexec (like Remote Desktop, pcAnywhere)

Asked by sunhux in WebEx Conferencing Software, VNC Remote Access Software, Remote Desktop/Terminal Services

Hi,

I noticed our vendor would usually email us a link that if I click on it would enable them to
remote access my desktop PC - they can view my screen/keystrokes & they can take
control of my keyboard/mouse too.  The best part of it is it comes thru Tcp port 80 - in
a way this is a defacto rule on the firewall that permits us to browse the Internet.

I'm looking for a freeware like Webex & instructions/steps on how to set it up like what
our vendor is doing.  However, instead of the client having to click on the link to activate
or permit the access, I would like a tool that can be enabled by the remote end just by
entering password (just like Remote Desktop/pcAnywhere) but the port used to access
is still Tcp port 80 (or any customizable port number).

If Webex is a freeware, let me know a link where I can get started quickly on getting it
set up for use.

Also, if possible the software should be able to operate through dialup phone line - ie I
would like to be able to remote access my office PC from my home via Internet (both
the corporate network as well as possibly through a dialup line)

Thanks
