Browse All TopicsI need to figure out a way to automate the searching of a large Groupwise mail database. These searches are quite frequent, so we need to come up with a more efficient way to handle them. For instance, consider a request to produce all email to & from the a specific domain during the month of August '05. Every time one of these requests comes through, the IT department says they have to make a mirror of the entire server, which includes each individual's mail databases, change all passwords, and manually search each account - supposedly taking 30+ man hours per request. There has GOT to be a better way!
I am only marginally familiar with mail systems, but from what I know of MS exchange, if you are an admin, you can create a query that looks through all mailboxes. Is there any way to do this in Groupwise? Any 3rd party products out there that would accomplish this?
A secondary question would help them comply with archival laws. They are supposed to keep all messages for at least 5 years - right now they ask people to just keep them in their inboxes. Is there a better way? They do backup to tape, but for the aforementioned ORPs, they have to keep an online & searchable copy as well.
Anyway, I know this is a tough one, but any help would be greatly appreciated!
