The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Need to implement Groupwise for PDA's - which platform(s) to choose ?

Asked by girbeaud in Novell Groupwise, Handheld and PDA Programming

We are running Groupwise 7.03 and have no problems.  Many months ago, we got a copy of Groupwise Mobile Server that I installed on a W2K box to see how it worked.  I did not have a PDA, but could tell that it was working OK, because I would get an SMS message when I got emails in my GW account.  At that point, I deleted my cell phone from the GMS system, cause I didn't want to actually use the feature, just see that it would work when I was ready.  Fast forward to today....

One of my users bought a Blackberry (without my knowledge - no big deal) and setup his email address, username and password, and started getting emails.  When I found out, I wondered how it was working.  What I figure is that his blackberry is maybe using POP or IMAP to connect to Groupwise though WebAccess, because the GMS wasn't working at the time.  Well, now other users want to get email and calendaring on PDAs, so I need to learn about how GW handles this stuff & decide what we will do.  If BB/RIM simply bypasses GMS, then maybe that's what I want people to use, so I have no added administration on another box.  But can Palm & Windows Mobile devices do the same thing that his BB is doing without using the GMS ?  (We don't need to PUSH emails, we ONLY need to allow the users to connect to their PO to send/receive and do calendaring when they want to.)

Please chime in and offer advice as to:

1. How my BB user is probably getting GW email currently.
2. Whether others can choose between BB, Palm or Window Mobile devices and do the same thing.
3. Whether or not this can all be done without GMS.
4. Any other thoughts on our situation.

Technically, its a broad sweep, but I figure that is it really a single question.  Thanks everyone.Start Free Trial
