I am attempting to move my Groupwise 6.5 system including emails and document library from a Netware 6.5 server to a new Windows SBS2003 server which will be running Groupwise 7. I need to clarify how to do this with the least amount of work, and the least amount of danger to the existing netware/groupwise system. I would like to transfer the existing usernames as they are important to the groupwise document library. I have been told by Novell the way to do it is the following:
1. install edirectory on the windows server and add the windows server to the existing tree
2. Place a replica onto the windows server (not sure how this is done)
3. Remove the netware server from the tree (not sure how this will effect the current network which I would like to continuing using for a couple of weeks until I am sure the document management system is working properly)
4. Install novell client and consoleone on the windows server
5. Copy the domain directory and post office and the store area to the windows server
6. Connect to the domain database and change the unc path for the domain, post office, software directory and storage area, and log path as well.
7. Change the ip address for mta, poa, gwia and webaccess
8. Rebuild the domain databse and then post office database
9. Install groupwise agents on the server which will point to the database that was copied from the netware server to the windows server
I have attached a txt file containing the transcript of my chat with a novell groupwise tech.
I would like any information that experts exchange can give me as to whether these steps are correct and if something has possibley been missed. Keeping in mind I would like to continue using the current netware/groupwise system in the office for a short period while I am testing the new windows/groupwise system.
