The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Domino Server - Cant resolve its own name - "Remote system no longer responding"

Asked by martinmcginley in Lotus Domino Email Server, Miscellaneous Networking, Lotus Notes

Tags: , , , ,

Approximately 3 months ago one of my servers got the following error, the problem has since spread:

04/13/2007 11:39:26 AM  Error connecting to server domino1/acme: Remote system no longer responding
(This is the output from domino1/acme so the server can't find itself.)  When this error happens the server eventually goes into a non-responsive state where message wont route and users cant connect.  The server DOES NOT CRASH, it just becomes unresponsive. No NSD is produced and no failover. External DNS seems ok and I have now added the IP address to the net address field in the domino doc (still got the same error).

I have never expereinced this type of problem in 17 years of doing Domino.

***
The question I am trying to answer is how does domino take the data in the net address field of the server doc and get back the correct address?
***
Please note I have done the following...
- ping the server's net address/server's domino fqdn  server1.acme.com (ok)
- trace from inside domino trace domino1.acme.com (when the problem happens it cant resolve itself)
- added the ip address to the server document
- added connection records with ip addresses

Environment
1 DOMINO DOMAIN, 1 NNN FOR ALL THE SERVERS - 450 USERS PER SERVER - SERVERS CLUSTERED (4 SERVERS PER CLUSTER, 1 CLUSTER MEMEBER IN A WAN).

2 CPU 4 GIG DELL SERVERS - DOMINO 6.5.5 - WINDOWS 2003 SP1
