The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Lotus Domino - Error on Listen function: The TCP/IP stack can't bind a network address

Asked by h3rm1t9536 in Lotus Domino Email Server

Tags: , , , ,

I am in the process of migrating from Lotus Domino 5 to 7. The first step is to move the old V5 server from an NT4 platform to a new Win2003 server platform.

I have created the new server "offline" with the same IP and name. Obviously its only connected to a switch and no other devices so as not to conflict.

I followed recommendations and installed V5 on the new server, made a backup of the original servers data, moved this across, ran fixups and re-indexes and then fired up the server to see if there was any major issues. The only problem I have is that it reports the following at 20 second intervals in the console window:
05/11/2007 11:29:44   Error on Listen function: The TCP/IP stack can't bind a network address
to a TCP socket, please verify that the TCP stack has been properly initialized.
05/11/2007 11:29:44   Error on Listen function: The TCP/IP stack can't bind a network address
to a TCP socket, please verify that the TCP stack has been properly initialized.
05/11/2007 11:29:44   Error on Listen function: The TCP/IP stack can't bind a network address
to a TCP socket, please verify that the TCP stack has been properly initialized.
05/11/2007 11:29:44   Listener task for port CLUSTER is suspending for 20 seconds due to listen
errors

I am wondering if the reason is because I have yet to connect it to a valid network? I am going to try making it live tonight but if anyone has any ideas it would be appreciated. Could the TCP/IP port config be different on the new server an thus need updating?

The TCP/IP port info on the server are as follows (excuse formatting!!) Please note this used to be part of a cluster that is no longer active.

       TCP                  DISABLED
TCPIP2      TCP      ZNetIP      10.3.1.35      ENABLED
                        DISABLED
                        DISABLED
      SPX                  DISABLED
                        DISABLED
CLUSTER      TCP      Cluster Network Net      CL01_ZEUS      DISABLED
                        DISABLED

Any help on this may put my mind at ease!

Thanks
