The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Importing Outlook Express v5 messages into OE6

Asked by icampbell in Outlook Groupware Software, Microsoft Applications

Tags: import, oe6, oe5, express, outlook

Dear All,

would be most grateful for any feedback regarding a problem encountered when attempting to import .mbx files from Outlook Express v5 into Outlook Express 6. Unfortunately I did not export the messages - all I have to go on are the original mbx
files residing in the windows\application data \ microsoft \ outlook directory. PC is running Windows 98 and I upgraded
IE5 / OE5 to IE6 / OE6.

I have copied the three mbx files (inbox, outbox & drafts) into a backup folder (backup\mail) and attempted to use the import feature within Outlook Express v6. When selecting the program to import from I choose Outlook Express 6 (as only v4 and v6 are shown) and choose the option "import mail from an OE6 store directory" and browse to the backup folder but receive the
message "No messages can be found in this folder or another application is running that has the required files open. Select
another folder or try closing applications....." I have also tried the parent directory (backup) as I believe the process creates
the mail folder automatically to no avail.

I suspect that there may be additional files required other than the .mbx files or that you have to use a 3rd party utility to
accomplish this but would appreciate any information you may be able to provide.

Thanks
Campbeic
