How to rename Inbox.

I am using microsoft outlook 2000 as my mail client for Exchange server. few days back I got an attachment and when I opened it name of my inbox got changed. That was some sort of virus. Now I am unable to change the name. I have even uninstalled the application but still the name remains same. Seems this name is changed in the server. How can I change the name ? Is it possible to change the inbox name in the server by the client ??

Neo thanks a lot. Superb solution. But I wanna know why can't outlook allow this to be changed in client ? and was the name changed in server or client ?

Thanks,
Amit
It was the client that renamed the Inbox and it is known issue that it happens under rare occurences.

The Outlook UI doesn't allow any of the default folders to be renamed by the user.  Hence it can only be done programmatically.
will it work on NT..I m not able to do it.
Afetr running the script  nothing happen s...

you might try installing the newer scripting libraries.  (s/be http://msdn.microsoft.com/scripting and you would take the Microsoft Windows Script 5.6 Download link)  outside of that, i have only used this script on windows 2000/xp running against outlook 98 - 2003.
I attempted to use this solution on Windows XP with Outlook 2003 and I get the following error:

C:\fchn_customizations\renfldr.vbs(80, 1) Microsoft Office Outlook: You don't ha
ve appropriate permission to perform this operation.

The user is a local administrator.  Anybody have any thoughts?

same error as gearry ... any new advice?
i have now trawled the internet for hours to see if the issue was on my side of things, but im pretty sure it is not ...

to confirm to people the vbs execution does not work for Outlook 2007 and does return the dont have permission error (see screenshot at https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/25103239/Rename-Inbox-and-Sent-Items-in-Outlook-or-Exchange.html), and it seems to me this is most likely because of "After installing the Outlook security update this sample will stop working properly because of changes made by Microsoft."  http://www.cdolive.com/modifydefaultfoldernames.htm

i think it is time to give up, unless there are any other types of solution on offer?

p.s. btw for those pre 2007, here is another helpful article in case copy paste introduces linebreaks http://www.eggheadcafe.com/forumarchives/outlookgeneral/Jun2005/post23348749.asp
