Can you use Outlook Express and POP the message off the server? I'm thinking that RFC2822 stream (message source stream) will show that the attachment(s) are being tagged with a content-id. If this is the case, then you have found a bug that has been reported to Microsoft and acknowledged. (Outlook will suppress the displaying of any attachment that comes in with a content id. Supposedly this has been fixed in Outlook 2003, but I haven't tested it.)
Let me try to clarify a little bit.
Using a linux mail server.
Using MS outlook 2k
internal email from one user to this specific machine, *pdf files attatched* work fine.
external pdfs coming into this machine do not show in the inbox, and no way to access them unless you forward them. and access from the sent box only.
only on this machine. and probably 30 machines with the same setup. its buggin the heck out of me
No unique firewall, its on an internal network.
Anti-virus not a factor, i tryd the emails after uninstalling it. and with it installed.
no blocking settings in outlook.
its not truely blocking them anyway if it lets you forward itl. :(
note u cant see it when u are in the process of forwarding it only if you check the forwarded email.
just so yo guys know have check everything you have suggested.

In an effort to protect us from email problems like viruses, malicious scripts, etc. Microsoft has automatically blocked at least 43 file types from being opened or executed in Outlook 2002. While this is a good idea there may be occasions when we want an attachment such as one a friend may have sent. That's where Outlook Attachments can help. Operation is very simple. If you receive an attachment that is blocked close Outlook, use Outlook Attachments to highlight and allow the file type, reopen Outlook and the file will now be available.
