Browse All TopicsI recently installed a Win 2k3 Small Busines Server for a client. I keep finding SMTP connectors in the queues that I don't know where they come from and are obviously not legitimate outgoing e-mail. I have tested for an open relay and found that it is not an open relay, I had this problem before and have learned how to lock it down fairly well. I need to find out where these SMTP connectors are coming from. All of the messages are from postmaster@***.com - does this mean these are auto responses from my email server to bogus incoming mail? We have several e-mail domain names coming in and the badmail file fills up quickly, so I know there is a ton of spam coming through.... Please let me know how to turn off the autoresponder, if that is what it is, or am I a victim of a trojan horse or backdoor spammer?

Most likely you want to disable NDR's from your server outgoing
d->make sure 'allow Non delivery report' is not checked
Open Exchange System Manager->Internet Message Format->Right side (usually Default *)
Right click->Properties->advance

P.S. this is as you said (or sounds like it) bogus email incomming to things like info@yourdomain.com and if you dont have an info mailbox then the mail just gets sent to your postmaster and an NDR is sent
