The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Auto Create Outlook fax / email Distribution Lists from public folder contacts

Asked by localmagic in Outlook Groupware Software

Tags:

I have an Outlook 2003 Public folder containing about 500 contacts.
These contacts were created by a program I wrote, which imports
them from a third party proprietary database.

I wish to automate the creation of two distribution lists:

1) A list of all contacts that have fax numbers. This will be used
in an email to GFI FAxMaker to broadcast faxes.

2) A list of all contacts that have email address. This will be
used to send mass emails.

I could just manually create the lists, but other users create new
entries in the third party db, so new contacts would never get in
the distribution list.

Some contacts have email only, some fax only, some have both.

I have found a workaround to the email problem --

Go to the contacts listing.
Set the view to Phone List.
Sort by email address.
Select all records that have an email address.
Select Actions / New Message to Contacts.

Unfortunately, I have to do it in two groups, since there seems to
be some kind of limit to the number of recipients you can select in
this way.

I have found no solution at all for the Fax Distribution lists.

I understand that there is a limit of about 120ish entries for a
distribution list anyway, and that I will really have 4-5 lists for
mail / fax.

I would consider writing code to generate the distribution lists if
all else fails.Start Free Trial
